JAMMU, Mar 7: Police today resorted to minor lathicharge to disperse a mob which tried to block the road at village Kote against dumping of garbage by the JMC at Bhalwal.
Inhabitants of Kot, Bhalwal, Mishriwala, Purkhoo, Raipur, Domana, Kalari, Kalakaam, Asarwan, Agore, Kangrail, Dhyaran and other adjoining areas have been continuously opposing the dumping of garbage by JMC at Bhalwal near Degree College Mishriwala.
Like yesterday, the people of these villages this morning assembled near dumping site Bhalwal to protest against illegal move of JMC. They tried to stop the way of JMC vehicles. Senior officers of police and civil administration including ADC Arun Manhas tried to pacify the protestors and but when they refused to disperse, police deployed at the site resorted to lathicharge, in which some of the protestors got minor injuries.
Besides, police detained chairman of Kandi Belt Movement, KD Singh, Bhushan Singh and Ram Mohammad. However, they were released later.
