KATHUA, Jan 2: The residents of Parliawand held protest in front of DC office here against Police Department and blocked the College Road for one hour.
The protesters including woman said that a person namely Romesh Kumar of Ward Number 10 Kathua was assaulted by three unidentified persons on November 4 2017. The victim later succumbed to his injuries in a Ludhiana hospital after three weeks and till then the accused are at large, they added.
One of the protester Jatinder Singh said that despite lapse of around two month, police have failed to arrest the accused. Hand over the case to Crime Branch or CBI to identify and arrest the accused behind the murder, he demanded.

After getting information, a police team led by DySP Kathua SS Sambyal rushed to the spot and told the protesters that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising of five members and headed by him has already been working on the murder case and questioning of suspected persons is going on.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kathua Resh Pal Singh also reached the spot and patiently listened to the whole matter, which was narrated by Jatinder Singh, ex-Municipal Councilor. Singh asked ADC to hand over the case to Crime Branch or CBI, so that culprits behind the murder can be arrested and justice prevails.
ADC Resh Pal Singh assured protestors including the family members of the victim that appropriate action will be taken up to solve the murder case and arrest the accused.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored.
Among others present were Parminder Singh, Advocate Sushil Gupta, Advocate Ajay Shatriya Singh, Ganesh Kumar and Prab Dayal.
