RAJOURI, June 5: District Administration today ordered inquiry after the people from Thannamandi area of district Rajouri held protest demonstration last night along with dead body of the youth, who was said to be missing for the last few days.
The deceased has been identified as Shaheen Mirza, resident of Bathian village in Thannamandi. He was missing for the last four days and the family was searching for him. His dead body was found lying near main bridge at Nowshera on Sunday and it was shifted to Nowshera hospital as ‘unclaimed’.
The family came to know about the matter and after postmortem and legal formalities, they took the body to Bhathian village in Thannamandi last evening. The relatives and villagers later, arrived Rajouri town and blocked Salani bridge at around 10.30 pm and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against police and Administration. They were claiming that it was murdered and accused persons be booked.
The villagers claimed that Shaheen, a driver was coming towards Tannnamandi from Sunderbani side along with bovine animals during night about four days back. At Nowshera bridge during midnight the police party had laid naka, while two persons were nabbed by police, Shaheen jumped out of vehicle and escaped. Thereafter, his whereabouts were not known.
The protesters then moved to the official residence of DC Rajouri Shahid Iqbal around 1.30 am midnight. The DC then came out and assured the protesting people to hold impartial inquiry I to the matter. He ordered that Additional DC Rajouri Mumtaz will hold an inquiry into the matter and shall submit report. The people then lifted dharna and took away the dead body to Thannamandi. The last rites of the deceased were performed at his home village Bathian in Thannamandi this morning.
