UDHAMPUR, Mar 6: Locals protested against Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department for its failure to provide ration and renewed ration cards.
Two separate protest demonstrations were held in this regard, during which the agitating people raised slogans against the CAPD department.
According to Peer Gulzar Shah, who was leading the protest, the Government had announced that new ration cards would be available to the ration card holders before January 2016 and in the new year, ration would be supplied as per renewed ration cards. However, till date, neither new cards nor the ration were supplied, he lamented and appealed to the Governor N N Vohra to personally look into the issue.
Meanwhile another protest was held by Kashmiri migrants, who also alleged that ration was not supplied to them for the last three months. “We used to get ration directly from the Centre and State has nothing to do with it. We don’t fall under NFSA. Tomorrow is the Shivratri but there is no ration,” said a protesting migrant.
