JAMMU, Mar 6: A sit in protest demonstration was held today on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway by the residents of Ward No 56, Gangyal under the leadership of Satish Kumar Sharma, Ex-Chairman, Health and Sanitation, JMC and Ex-Corporater of the Ward.
The public demanded atta directly from CAPD Department in place of kanak and also sought increase in allotment of quantity of rice per soul per month.
Satish Sharma while addressing the gathering lambasted the authorities for unpopular and non-friendly CAPD policies over ration distribution and provision for ration cards. He said that ration is the basic need of each individual and no hard and fast rules should be put for issuing ration cards.
He demanded that fresh ration cards should be given on the basis of identity cards like voter cards and aadhar cards also. He said that by present ration policy the public is facing hardships and high handedness of authorities are make life of people miserable.
Sharma warned the authorities that if the demands of the people are not met immediately then the public will launch massive agitation and come on roads.
