RAJOURI, Feb 16: People staged protest demonstration and blocked Jammu-Rajouri road at Lamberi in Nowshera for over three hours after clash between two groups.
Reports said some people over an issue of a religious place had clash in which about half a dozen persons were injured. The people from one community lodged strong protest and alleged that some outsiders were trying to take control of a local religious place.
They raised barricades on the road and blocked Jammu-Poonch highway at Lamberi for over three hours. Later, ASP Nowshera Parshoram Sharma, SDPO Pardeep Singh and Tehsildar Mohd Rafiq reached the spot and talked to the agitating people. The people then lifted dharna and cleared the road. The police also arrested eight persons in this regard and registered a case in this connection.
