DODA, May 23: A protest demonstration was held here against the alleged discrimination by the coalition Government in all developmental works.
Amid slogans, large number of people including political workers and members of civil society took out a protest rally, which started from Nehru Chowk and concluded outside DC Office, where District Development Board (DDB) meeting was going on.
Police had a tough time to pacify the protesters who were trying to enter the venue of Board meeting.
All Shops remained closed while transport was also effected in most places of District.
The main issues which protesters put forth include proper maintenance of Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway, Dessa-Kapran, Doda-Gundna and other roads, which had become a death trap for people.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Babar Hassan strongly criticized the approach of Government and concerned Department for their negligence towards the maintenance of roads in the region.
“Every week, we people have to sacrifice lives of relatives and family members in road accidents due to worst road conditions and pathetic attitude of Government in maintaining these roads”, he added.
He stated that the Government is least bothered about the miseries of the people including supply of potable water, road connectivity, electricity, medicare facilities and shortage of faculty in Government colleges, said another protester.
The protesters asked the coalition Government to fulfill the genuine demands at the earliest or face the consequences.
