People protest against power, water crisis

JAMMU, June 8: The activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement held a protest demonstration at New Plots and torched the effigies of PDD and PHE Ministers against the erratic power and water supply in Jammu city and other areas.
The protestors blocked the Jammu-Bantlab road disrupting the movement of vehicular traffic on it. They also broke the pitchers in protest against the water scarcity and failure of PHE Department to look into the problem.
Addressing the protestors’ president of Jammu West Assembly Movement, Sunil Dimple warned Jammu bandh in near future in case Government failed to solve the problems. He urged the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah that the power cuts have no schedule and curtailments continue the whole day and night up to 11 and 12 o’Clock resulting in sleepless nights to the people.
Alleging discrimination with Jammu, Dimple said this is the main reason for the hardships being faced by the people of Jammu region. He said though more revenue is collected from Jammu region as power tariff and water tariff, during the Summer season when people need more power the authorities enforce long duration power cuts in this region.
Dimple also alleged that Omar Abdullah Government has not taken any step to over come the power, water crisis and solve the other problems of the people of the region. The Coalition Government and Congress party are least bothered to solve the peoples problems in this region, he added.
Dimple said while Ministers are enjoying in Kashmir Valley there is no one in Government to bother for the Jammuites whose problems have compounded with increasing power cuts and water scarcity in the sweltering heat of Summer.
