SUNDERBANI, July 10: A large number of people from several villages of Panchayat Lower Bhajwal block Sunderbani held a strong protest demonstration against Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, Sunderbani for low voltage, power cuts and severe drinking water crisis during these hot summer days.
A large number of people from these villages assembled at village Kalideh today morning and blocked the road. They started strong protest demonstration against authorities of both the departments. They were shouting slogans against the District Administration and PHE and PDD authorities.
Sarpanch Lok Nath Sudan and Sarpanch Mohan Singh, were leading the protest. The people were shouting slogans against both the departments. They said all the Panchayat Bhajwal A and Lower Bhajwal B are totally dry and also suffering from low voltage and electricity curtailment. The PHE authorities have failed to provide even tanker supply. The general public is purchasing water through private tankers by paying huge money.
The District Administration and PHE & PDD authorities at Rajouri and Jammu have totally failed to provide this essential service to thousands of people of this entire belt, they alleged.
Protesters Jaswant Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Yog Raj, Joginder Paul, Romesh Kumar, Ajay Sharma, Sansar Chandra and others said that PHE & PDD Departments Sunderbani seem to have turned defunct as they are not paying any attention towards supply of water and electricity for the last over one month.
Despite spending huge money, the people have been deprived of drinking water. The people have to walk miles on-foot to fetch water from nallahs or from natural water sources and purchasing generator sets of getting light. They also alleged that DC Rajouri has never visited to the area to hold public grievance camp in their belt. The protesting people also blocked road for over an hour and later dispersed.
