SAMBA, Nov 21: The problem of water is increasing continuously in the hilly areas of Samba district, and the fact is that people are craving for safe drinking water in some villages of Kandi belt.
Kard, the hill Panchayat of the district Samba, has been facing acute water scarcity for the past several months and people are forced to drink the dirty water of the pond, but the PHE Department is sleeping over the issue.
Rohit Kumar of Kard Panchayat said that the administration is not paying any attention to the hilly areas. For many months, people have been drinking the water of the pond and they often fall prey to infection, but the PHE Department does not pay any attention to it.
People of Kard Panchayat said that many times officers have been made aware of this problem and except assurances they do nothing. While questioning the policies of the department they said there is no filtration plant to clean the water due to which people are forced to drink contaminated water.
The people of the Panchayat warned that if their problem was not solved, they will be forced to take to the streets.
