RAJOURI, Apr 8: Making an emotional pitch for voters to vote and support Congress in the ongoing Parliamentary elections, former minister and Congress candidate from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency, Raman Bhalla has said that his party was fighting against divisive and exploitive forces, which are hell bent to destroy harmony not only in the State but in entire nation.
Addressing series of public rallies at Budhal, Kalakote, Sunderbani and Peeri today along with AICC secretary, Dr Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Ravinder Sharma (Ex-MLC), Ashok Sharma ( Ex-MLA) and Iqbal Malik, Bhalla sought mandate of the people for him to accelerate developmental activities in remotest and far-flung areas. He said that Congress was committed to counter and defeat divisive forces tooth and nail and would always work for development of Jammu and Kashmir irrespective of any caste, colour or religion. He said many projects started during Congress Government are still incomplete due to BJP failure.
Bhalla described Congress party as synonym to development, secularism and national integrity. He said after Independence, it was Congress that scripted the future of the country and advanced towards the path of development. Development in any sphere cannot be done over night but the consistent and committed efforts of Congress has brought India on the world map, which is now one among the leading nation of the world,” he added.
PCC leader said J&K people are wise enough not to be swayed down by these opportunist politicians. They will definitely reject their dangerous agenda for division of our society and shall, only, choose path towards peace, development and prosperity, he added.
Cautioning people against anti- people policies pursued by the BJP Government, former Minister said that peace and development have become biggest causalty since this Govt had taken over. Bhalla said that disillusion meted out to people with the BJP Government was growing, as governance was at the lowest depth and development had taken nose dive in the past over three years.
AICC secretary, Dr Shakeel Ahmed Khan in his address asked party cadres to gear up for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State and defeat the nefarious designs of communal and divisive forces. He said that Congress is committed to the harmonious and equitable development of all regions of the State and ensuring social and secular harmony in the state and it always stood for these principles in politics and never compromised these core values for the sake of power.
Khan said that the BJP and PDP entered into an opportunist alliance and compromised their core issues for the sake of power. It was the most opportunist and unnatural alliance in the history, which proved to be disaster for the State.
