People living along IB deserve reservation: Sadhotra

JAMMU, June 26: Terming the Bill introduced in the Parliament by the Central Government to provide reservation to International Border (IB) dwellers a welcome step, Ajay Sadhotra, senior National Conference leader and former Minister said that people living along IB deserve reservation.
Sadhotra said IB and LoC people face same problems and situation. “While LoC people have already this reservation, IB people also deserve this as like LoC people they are also second defence line on border, who are the moral boosters of our Army when it fights on the border,” he added.
Former Minister said Government should give sense of belongings to the IB and LoC dwellers by improving their living standard by providing essential facilities like schools, health care institutions, animal care institutions, water, electricity, irrigation water, sanitation, road connectivity and shelter (houses) so that they may not feel sense of any deprivation. Their livestock should be insured by the Government so that in case of any eventuality, they could get adequate compensation/ relief.
He also stressed for providing internet facility in IB and LoC areas so that youth of these sensitive areas are well connected with the rest of the world. Speaking on the long pending promise of the Central Government to give IB and LoC dwellers 5 marla plots at safer places, Sadhotra said it is high time that the promise of giving 5 marlas of land to border inhabitants at safer place be fulfilled and soft loan be given to them for construction of houses so that in case of any disturbances on the border, they could shift there.
