JAMMU, Nov 20: The JKPCC working president, Raman Bhalla today targeted BJP Government over its economic policies by stating that while citizens were reeling under hardship, leaders were enjoying themselves.
“The state of the economy in the country is bad. The service sector has fallen flat. Employment is decreasing. Those ruling are busy in themselves and the people are suffering on every front,” Bhalla said while addressing Block meeting of Gangyal organized by Satish Sharma and Block president Janak Raj. The meeting was also addressed by District Jammu Urban Incharge Yogesh Sawhney, Manmohan Singh.
Bhalla said Rahul Gandhi’s `Bharat Jodo Yatra’ has received unexpected massive support from the people and different political parties. The senior Congress leader asserted that even though India gained its independence a long time back, the people were losing their freedom bit by bit. He said people and other political parties have realized that the march was not in the party interest but to preserve the constitutional culture and to make a new India, free from BJP’s farcical Government. The yatra has the potential to transform Indian politics, he claimed.
PCC leader further said that democracy is at stake and constitutional bodies were weakened in the country under the NDA rule. Congress launched the movement to unite the country against the “divisive politics” policy of the incumbent Government at the Centre. The main objective of the march was to educate the people on the tyranny of the BJP rule, to fight against its suppressive regime and destruction of the economics of livelihood, increasing unemployment and growing inequalities, he said.
Sawhney said that the BJP Government has deeply disappointed the people of Jammu again and again. Every section is under stress and pressure from the various failures of this Government. He claimed that men, women and students, poor and middle class, all sections are not happy. Sawhney said that Congress leaders will work to create awareness among public and provide help wherever possible especially by urging the Government to open its eyes towards its own blunders.
Th Manmohan Singh and Satish Sarma said that public issues have remained unaddressed. It seems Govt has no road map for the empowerment of the PRIs in the Jammu and Kashmir. All the Councillors of JMC irrespective of political affiliations are facing problem due to shortage of funds for developmental activities. While people are still waiting for their concerns of basic needs such as jobs, housing, power, transport and water supply to be addressed, the government is using public money on events and celebrations, they added.
