UDHAMPUR, Apr 20: The people from remote Dudu, Basantgarh Sub Divisions and Latti-Marothi area of district Uhampur have urged the Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh for the construction of road from Dudu (Kirchi) to Seoj Dhar and further connect it with Bhaderwah.
In a letter flashed to the Union Minister in PMO, who happens to be the Member Parliament from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Constituency, through Ex-Sarpanchs of the area, Thakur Hans Raj from Dudu, Kasturi Lal Gupta from Latti, Beant Gupta from Chappar, Ramesh Kumar from Jakhed, Makhan Manhas from Sirra, Dev Raj from Panchaunt; Kewal Parihar Ex-BDC Chairman from Basantgarh and Pinki Devi former DDC Member from Latti-Marothi, the local residents have strongly demanded construction of a direct road connectivity from Dudu to Bhaderwah via Seoj. They have also sent a letter to Dy Commissioner Udhampur in this regard.
They said in first phase at least the road from Dudu to Seoj be completed and in the second, up to Bhaderwah. They pointed out that 36 kms road under PMGSY had been sanctioned about eight years ago but hardly 4 kms road up to Thirdu was completed and rest of the road could not be taken up and now it has been cancelled by the authorities.
They said thousands of pilgrims visit Kailash Sarovar Yatra, abode of Vasuki Nag, on Seoj Dhar from Ramnagar, Chenani and Dudu Basantgarh area of Udhampur district. Seoj is very beautiful tourist destination with large meadows surrounded by thick Deodar trees. With more footfall of tourists, the economy of this area will increase. Moreover, as defence point of view, it will be a vital road link. The militants have made this area as their safe hiding point, and the forces will have easy reach to this area with a road connectivity.
They further urged the Union Minister to use his good offices and get this road sanctioned under BRO/GREF as early as possible for providing big relief to the people of Chenani, Ramnagar, Dudu, Basantgarh, Latti Tehsil and Bhaderwah-Bhalessa belt of district Doda.
