MANSAR, Sept 26: On a Bandh call given by Beopar Mandal Mansar and Beopar Mandal Nud, which was supported by all political parties, the vehicular traffic remained suspended for as long as six hours on Mansar, Surinsar and Battal Roads resulting in bee-lines of commercial as well as private vehicles there.
Main bazaars at Nud as well as Mansar remained totally closed observing total bandh. The bandh call pivoted around two demands – firstly, proper repair of Samba to Battal road and secondly, seeking appropriate remedial measures against fraud committed by one local J E of PWD, on the said road whereby sub-standard work has been done.
R S Pathania, general secretary, Pradesh Youth Congress, while addressing the protetsors lambasted the authorities for running a contractor-politician scandal in the area to mint money.
It was ultimately at about 2.00 pm that on the assurance of Chief Engineer, PWD, Ex-Engineer PWD Udhampur, Tehsildar Samba and SHO Mansar that the road-blockade was lifted.
