JAMMU, Apr 16: The family members, relatives and neighbours of the youth, who was murdered last night by three to four unidentified youths over a petty issue, today blocked the Janipur-High Court Road for about four hours demanding arrest of all the accused persons.
According to reports, the deceased identified as Rakesh Kumar (27) son of Kalu Ram, a resident of Old Janipur, had an altercation with four bike-borne unidentified youths when their bikes collided late night in Old Janipur area, following which the accused badly thrashed Rakesh Kumar, who succumbed to his injuries on way to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
Today afternoon, hundreds of people including family members, relatives and neighbours of the deceased youth along with his dead body blocked Janipur-Bantalab road at Patoli Morh in Old Janipur area demanding the police to arrest all the four accused, who were absconding since the time of murder.
The protestors disrupted the traffic movement on busy High Court road for about four hours and demanded immediate arrest of all the accused. Due to huge gathering of the people and resultant blockage of the road, the police had to divert traffic from Paloura and Tali Morh.
On getting information, SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand, SP City, Shiv Kumar Chauhan, and other concerned police officers reached the spot and assured aggrieved family members that all the accused would be in police net soon, as they have been identified and their bike seized.
Besides, senior police officers, MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma also reached the spot and extended his sympathy with the family members, who also sought cash compensation from the MLA.
On assurance of senior police officers and the MLA that all the four accused would be arrested soon, the protestors dispersed with the dead body at about 6 in the evening.
When contacted, SP City, Shiv Kumar Chouhan said that that a murder case has been registered against four accused and all of them have been identified. He said that police is making all efforts to nab them and soon all of them will be in police custody.
Later in the night, police claimed to have arrested one of the accused namely Anmol Sharma, son of Vijay Kumar Sharma, a resident of Paloura.
