JAMMU, July 13: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners’ Association has urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for implementing the 7th Pay Commission recommendations and effecting hike in the Dearness Allowance in the wake of imposition of GST in the country.
The association in its provincial level meeting held under president Y S Jamwal discussed the problems and grievances of the pensioners and held that imposition of GST has badly hit common people especially the pensioners because of steep hike in the prices of essential commodities. The speakers said lower grade employees and pensioners were the worst sufferers as with a single stroke of GST, the prices of goods of daily use have marked a steep hike and at the same time the State Government has failed to implement recommendations of 7th Pay Commission.
The meeting appealed the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister to be practical and do the needful keeping in view the hardships being faced by poor people in general and the pensioners in particular so that they could also heave a sigh of relief.
The meeting among others was attended by B S Jamwal (Advocate), J R Sharma, K G Khajuria, B D Verma, R K Gupta and Bahu-ud-Din.
