Pensioners demand all benefits at par with counterparts in other UTs

JAMMU, Feb 3: The problems being faced by State Government Pensioners, Government employees and relief holders were discussed in a meeting held here, today.
The meeting, while discussing the demands said that since the J&K has become a Union Territory the pensioners and Government employees here be given the same benefits which they are entitled in the other UTs of the country. The meeting said that pensioners in J&K are getting the Medical Allowance at the rate of Rs 300 per month while in other UTs of country the pensioners are getting Rs 1000 per month as the Medical Allowance. The J&K pensioners demanded that the same analogy be also adopted for them and they be given all benefits to which the pensioners in other UTs are entitled.
The pensioners also demanded the Rent Allowance and other allowances which the pensioners in other UTs are getting. The meeting, which was presided over by Roshan Lal Raina also discussed the problems of relief holders and demanded that their monthly relief be enhanced to Rs 20,000 per family in view of hike in prices of essential commodities.
