KATHUA, Mar 3: President Provincial Electrical Employees Union (PEEU) P C Sharma has sought the intervention of Lieutenant Governor, G C Murmu for solving the long pending and burning demands of causal labour, need based workers and daily wagers who have been running from pillar to post for years for justice.
Talking to reporters here, today Sharma made a fervent appeal to L G of JK UT in this regard and said that the condition of these casual laborers, need base workers and daily wagers is pitiable.
While highlighting the problems of these hapless workers he demanded releasing of long pending wages of 3405 need base workers recently converted as regular casual laborers immediately, waiving of the condition and formality of up-loading the bio-data of those 791 need base workers through NIC who are continuously working in the Department and whose bio-data through NIC had not been up-loaded due improper information by the authorities and payment of wages to all 791 need base workers whose C.V. numbers are there and also payment of wages to all those whose names are in the hard copy (numbering 3405) which have been submitted to the all authorities i.e. Commissioner Secretary PDD, Principal-Secretary Finance & Planning Departments time & again.
He further demanded regularization of all 1523 permanent daily laborers and 3405 regular casual laborers converted from need base workers with creation of 1523 Class-IV posts whose proposal has already been mooted to the Government and is pending in the office of Chief Engineer, JPDCL, Jammu for providing financial implication in creation of 1523 posts of Class-IV grade.
P.C. Sharma appealed to the Lieutenant Governor for giving directions and to the concerned authorities to clear the long pending wages of 3405 need base and casual laborers and regularization of all 1523 + 3405 daily wagers with creation of new posts.
He said that the daily wagers of PDD are working on crucial assignments like Lineman & SBA’s whose lives are always at risk while performing their duties. He said that these daily wagers are living in miserable conditions along with their families.
He said that the infrastructure of PDD has been increased 200 times form the date of reorganization of the department in 1981 and since then not a single post has been created in the department to cope up with the increased infrastructure. From 2008-2009 onwards the Department authorities in compelling circumstances started engaging these 1523+3405 casual laborers to work on line maintenance of receiving stations, sub stations and installation of newly crated sub stations.
