SAMBA, Sept 30: A pedestrian was killed near Jatwal on Jammu -Pathankot National Highway here late last night after hit by a speeding car.
According to police one person was crossing the Highway when suddenly he was hit by a speeding car and he was seriously injured. With the help of the local people, he was brought to District Hospital Samba (DHS) where the doctor declared him as brought dead. However, taking advantage of the darkness the car fled.
The deceased has been identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Khem Raj, resident of Muthi tehsil Ghagwal, district Samba. The local people present at the spot complained to the police. After the post-mortem at District Hospital Samba, the body was handed over to the family members for last rites. In this regard Police have registered a case against the absconding car driver and started further investigation.
