Srinagar, Feb 12: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, the police today arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
Authorities reported that a police party, led by I/c Police Post Delina, intercepted a person at a checkpoint established at Khaitangan, Baramulla.
The individual attempted to flee upon noticing the police party but was tactfully apprehended, police said.
He has been identified as Mohd Asif Akhoon, son of Mohd Mustafa Akhoon, a resident of Khaitangan, Baramulla, according to the police.
During a search, officers recovered 15 grams of brown sugar from his possession.
He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla, where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla, and an investigation has been initiated.
