Pea bean cultivation hit by adverse climatic conditions

BUNDI (Rajasthan), Nov 19:  Pea bean cultivation in Bundi district, that supplies the crop to Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana, has been adversely affected by unexpected climate change and constantly high temperatures till November end.
Over 50 trucks of pea beans are loaded from government weighing machine at Ashoknagar, Badanayagaoun every day in the season that sets in from December for three months, said Ramdhan Saini (46) who has cultivated pea beans over 28 bigas of his agriculture land in Hindoli area.
The pea bean crop production has suffered greatly due to non availability of seeds in the market in early months of sowing and later due to constant high temperature, said Om Prakesh Saini (28), another pea bean cultivator in Hindoli.
The hailstorm in last April had destroyed all the seeds for the crop due to which the cultivators could not get qualitative seeds of pea beans, these farmer said complaining the state government also did not provide them any facility to purchase the vegetable seeds. (PTI)
