Srinagar, May 4: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) workers of Rajpora constituency today created ruckus in the workers meeting of the party at Town Hall Pulwama in which hundreds party workers from various constituencies were present.
The PDP MLA from Rajpora and Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabu, who was scheduled to attend the workers meeting failed to attend it. Due to this the workers of the constituency created ruckus by raising slogans and marched towards the podium where the ministers and MLAs were sitting.
The workers of Pulwama constituency had heated argument with those of Rajpora for disturbing the convention. However, the workers of the Rajpora constituency continued their protests and said that their MLA has not visited the constituency since the formation of the Government.
The angry workers disrupted the convention for half an hour but police later restored the calm.
The workers convention was attended by MLA Pampore Zahoor Mir, MLA Pulwama Khalil Bandh and MLA Tral Mushtaq Ahmad Shah. The Minister for Rural Development Abdul Haq Khan and Minister for Hajj, Auqaf and Horticulture, A.R. Veeri were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Abdul Haq Khan said that youth have pivotal role in the development and prosperity of the State and they should actively participate in developmental process. He said that the Government is well aware about the problems of the people and they have great expectation with the present dispensation led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He said that Government is committed to redress the issues of public besides fulfilling their demands on priority.
Speaking on the occasion, Veeri said Coalition Government is committed for implementation of common minimum programme. He said welfare and socio economic upliftment of people is prime objective of the Government.
