JAMMU, Oct 10: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Rajya Sabha Member Nazir Ahmad Laway today wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to send Group of Ministers to Kashmir to assess the ground situation, release all political detainees and restore communication links.
“Unfortunately entire Opposition including three former Chief Ministers have either been detained or placed under house arrest since August 4 which I believe is not healthy sign for our democracy,” Laway said in his letter.
He said he was of the view that the Prime Minister’s slogan of `Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas Sabka Vishwaas’ was required to be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir saying there have been series of events which have eroded ‘Vishwas’ (trust) of Kashmiris.
He requested the Prime Minister to send a Group of Ministers to assess situation in Jammu and Kashmir, inspect condition of all Kashmiris, speak to common man, hear their voices, concerns and testimonies, get the feedback from ground level and act on the factual report.
“I also request you to frame concrete and practical political policy to win hearts and minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. I urge you to fully restore telecommunication and internet services in the Valley, release all political prisoners and initiate talks with all stakeholders at the earliest,” Laway said.
