PDP MLC calls on CM, demands construction of bunkers in border areas

SRINAGAR, May 2: Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Surinder Choudhary today called on Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and apprised her about the problems being faced by the residents of Nowshera Assembly constituency of Rajouri district.
During his meeting with Chief Minister, PDP MLC placed before her many genuine and pressing demands of the inhabitants of Nowshera and sought her immediate attention to address all the issues as early as possible to mitigate miseries of the people.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti assured earlier redressal of all genuine and deserving demands. She assured party MLC that instructions will be given to the concerned authorities for addressing these demands.
PDP MLC sought attention of the Chief Minister towards unending miseries of the border residents who have been bearing maximum brunt due to hostility between India and Pakistan. He demanded construction of bunkers after the safer places so that border residents could save their lives at the time of firing and shelling.
Listing problems being faced by the tribal community, he demanded that power should be supplied to the un-electrified hamlets of Schedule Tribe (ST) in Nowshera area. He sought intervention of the Chief Minister to implement Rs 1.5 crore project which has already been made in this regard.
Observing that unemployment is biggest issue in the backward area of Nowshera Assembly constituency, Choudhary demanded special recruitment drive for the border areas of Nowshera and Sunderbani tehsils of Rajouri.
Highlighting plight of cocoon growers, whose crop was badly damage due to seed provided by the department concerned from Udhampur, he demanded immediate relief for these poor farmers to save them from starvation. He said that many farmers have lost their whole crop due to mistake of department.
Reiterating his demand of conducting fresh BPL survey, MLC said that large number of deserving poor families have been singled out due to wrong survey. Furthermore, he also demanded that fresh survey should be conducted to issue ration cards to the poor families so that they can get subsidized ration.
