PDP MLA apologizes for slap

JAMMU, Feb 20: PDP MLA and former Minister Syed Bashir Ahmed today apologized for slapping a Marshal in the Assembly yesterday when he along with other PDP MLAs was being marshaled out on the directions of Speaker Mubarak Gul.
As soon as the Assembly proceedings began for the day, Syed Bashir apologised to the House for slapping a Watch and Ward staff and maintained that he did not intend to insult or injure any Assembly staff.
Terming the incident unintentional, the Rajpora MLA said: “if somebody’s sentiment has been hurt by my action, or if the dignity of the august House was undermined by my unintentional action, I tender my apology.”
During discussion on the grants of Agriculture Ministry in the Assembly yesterday, Mr Bashir had trooped into the Well of the House over shortage of rations given to migrants. As the Marshals were removing them, Bashir caught hold of the collar of a marshal and slapped him twice.
Earlier before start of the business in the Assembly, Mr Bashir was seen hugging Assistant Supervisor Kamran Farooq, who was slapped by him.
