SRINAGAR : Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today hit out at ruling PDP leaders, accusing them of “converting” the death of truck conductor, Zahid, into a public relations opportunity.
“Condoling the death, well done. Converting it in to a PR opportunity by using the State Information Dept – terrible,” Omar wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.
The public relations department of the state government had yesterday issued a photograph showing PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu receiving the body of Bhat at Srinagar Airport.
Omar, who is the working president of opposition National Conference, also hit out at Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
“Mufti blames ‘politics of hate’ for #Zahid’s death. Earlier it was ‘enemies of peace’. Why can’t the man call a spade a spade?” he tweeted.
Zahid, who was targeted in the October 9 Udhampur petrol bomb attack, died yesterday in Delhi, where he was admitted with 74 per cent burns. (PTI)
