JAMMU, Oct 12: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today asked the administration to reach out to the people and focus on development and good governance.
Addressing public meeting at Gobind Nagar in Digiana today, Bhalla called for judicious use of the existing manpower and their capacity building to ensure better delivery of services.  He said Govt’s focus has to be on expediting development, ensuring good governance and providing a hassle-free administration.
Bhalla said that Govt lacks insight into the governance initiatives and good practices which can bring a positive change at the grassroots level. He said priority of Govt should be people and not politics or power and should spend every day in mitigating the sufferings of the people. Bhalla said Govt needs to put its act together and make the things move at the desired pace on the development front.
He said the credibility of the PDP-BJP coalition is at its lowest ebb due to failure on all fronts. He maintained that the  picture of  the chairperson of radical women’s outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat Asiya Andrabi in a poster of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign which he termed major embarrassment to Coalition Govt especially BJP which considers itself only nationalistic party and its leaders the only nationals. The picture of Andrabi next to Mother Teresa along with  Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Kalpana Chawla, Kiran Bedi  and other  high achievers in the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (Save and educate the girl child) poster issued by State’s Child Development Project Officer, ICDS Project Breng in Anantnag seems deliberate attempt to disturb peace and also disrespect to other distinguished women. He said all those  behind this mischievous act must be booked with immediate effect.
Bhalla termed the BJP leaders and ministers as dream sellers and referred to the total neglect of border residents along LoC and IB. He said the discredited State Government owes an explanation to the people as to why it could not keep promises of raising shelter sheds, bunkers, allotting plots or ensuring reservation in the professional educational institutions and jobs for the wards of border residents.
