JAMMU, Dec 3: The J&K Need Base Workers Casual Labours Union of Power Development Department has urged upon the State Administration to release the pending wages of 3405 PDD workers without any delay.
Talking to media-persons here today, president of the Union, Akhil Sharma said that despite repeated requests/ representations to the higher authorities in the PDD and protest held several times by the workers, the pending wages of the 3405 workers were not cleared till date. He said that these hapless workers and their families were facing starvation. He demanded that their wages be released without any more delay.
The Union leader further demanded that PDD must ensure that regular payment of wages to these workers every month in future after clearance of their pending wages. He also demanded implementation of SRO 381.
He said if the demands of the workers is not fulfilled they will be forced to launch agitation and hold protest in the office of Chief Engineer PDD (M&RE) in Jammu from December 5. An employee of the department who has lost his limbs in an accident while at work and other members of the Union also accompanied.
