JAMMU, Dec 29: A special team from Janipur Electric Sub Division under Electric Division No.III Jammu led by AEE, OP Sharma conducted surprise inspection in Janipur and its adjoining areas today , disconnected eight illegal power connections and imposed a fine of Rs 65000 on the defaulters.
Official sources said that on the directions of Managing Director, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Shiv Anant Tayal, an inspection team led by Romesh Raina, Executive Engineer, Electric Division -III, Jammu and OP Sharma, Assistant Executive Engineer, Janipur Sub Div carried out a massive inspection drive to curb the power theft/pilferage at Janipur and its adjoining areas.
During the drive, a total of 102 installations were inspected and 24 defaulters were identified while 8 illegal connections were disconnected and later regularized and a penalty of Rs 65000 was imposed on the defaulters.
People of the area were asked to pay the electricity bills timely and make judicial use to power to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Assistant Engineer Janipur Elect Sub Division, Rajinder Chowdhary, Junior Engineer- Rakesh Lochan, Pawan Shamra (Tech) along with other field staff including Surinder Kohli, Ajay Chopra, Rajesh Sangra, Darshan Lal, Jai Bharat, Subhash Singh, Pardeep, Raman, Mohinder, Babu Ram, Vaishno Dutt and others accompanied senior officers during special drive.
