PDC’s Junior Asstt arrested for demanding, accepting bribe

SRINAGAR, Feb 26: A Junior Assistant of Power Development Corporation (PDC) Sopore was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe by the Vigilance Organiation Kashmir (VOK).
As per official spokesman, Imtia Ahmad of Nowshera Boniyar, Uri lodged a complaint with Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (VOK) that Junior Assistant of PDC, Sopore namely Nazir Ahmad Bhat was demanding Rs 2000 for processing his salary arrears case.
Accordingly, a trap was laid and the accused was arrested while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1000 as first installment.
The money was recovered from the accused in the presence of independent witnesses.
A case under FIR number 5/14 under Section 5(2) PC Act 2006 r/w 161 RPC has been registered at police station VOK and investigation into the case is going on.
