JAMMU, Jan 22:  Former MLC and PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma  today asked the BJP led Central-Government to fulfill the commitment of providing at least Rs 30 lakh to each displaced (DPs) family of 1947 besides ensuring the ongoing disbursement of the installment of Rs 5.5 lakhs to them without any further delay.
Sharma said that there is strong resentment amongst the displaced person of 1947 from POKJ for the inordinate delay and cumbersome procedure being adopted to release the installment of Rs 5.5 lakh per family as a result small number out of eligible families could get this amount.
During series of meetings in Nowshera-Sunderbani area, Sharma  was apprised that a large number of families could not yet complete the documentation for various reason at the administrative levels. They said that BJP had promised at least Rs 30 lakhs per refugee family before Lok Sabha elections but sanctioned only Rs. 5.5 lakhs against the recommendation of Cong-NC Government of Rs 25 lakh per family.  He demanded that the Centre Government should immediately sanction the full amount as per commitment and release/disburse the complete  amount to those who have already been found qualified and eligible in the process.
PCC leader lashed out at the State Government for diluting the 73rd amendment in the Panchayati Raj by depriving people to directly elect the Sarpanchs in their area, which goes against the basic spirit of democracy. He asked the people and party cadres to be ready to elect the right and deserving candidates in the forth coming Panch elections in the State. He was apprised about large scale  corruption and favoritism in the developmental works especially in the RDD.  A number of prominent leaders of Congress and former Sarpanchs/ Panchs attended the meetings.
