JAMMU, Aug 27: One-day convention of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) members of Jammu province, which was postponed due to curfew restrictions following Kishtwar violence, will now be held on August 31.
This was confirmed by JKPCC(I) chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz while talking to EXCELSIOR from New Delhi.
“All issues confronting the party shall be discussed in the convention,” said Mr Soz.
Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad and AICC general secretary Ambika Soni, who is also incharge of party affairs for J&K, are likely to attend the convention, which will be presided over by Prof. Soz.
Venue of the convention will remain Hotel Ashok, sources informed.
As reported earlier, the PCC convention was earlier scheduled to be held on August 11 but due to curfew restrictions following Kishtwar violence on August 9, it was postponed.
For their participation in the convention, Prof Soz and Ambika Soni are likely to arrive here on August 30 while Mr Azad will reach Jammu in the morning of August 31, sources said.
All the executive body members of Pradesh Congress Committee from Jammu Province, whose number is approximately 150 including ex-officio members like ministers, MLAs, MLCs, ex-ministers and ex-legislators, will attend this convention wherein party programmes and further strategy keeping in view the forthcoming Parliament elections is likely to be discussed, sources added.
