PCB seizes banned polythene, cutlery items

JAMMU, Feb 21: Pollution Control Board today seized 40 kg of banned polythene bags less than 50 microns along with 45 kg of banned disposable cutlery items from Janipur area of Jammu West.
Official sources said that the PCB team raided M/s Raj General Store, Patoli Morh, opposite High Court road, Janipur, Jammu, owned by Raj Kumar, son of Lt Joginder Lal of Janipur. The raid was conducted on the directions of Member Secretary, J&K PCB BM Sharma.
The team comprised of Arshad Malik, Divisional Officer PCB Jammu North, Chander Singh Kotwal, JEE Divisional Office Jammu South, Dimple Sharma, Field Inspector, Divisional Office Jammu North and Naveed Chowdhary, Field Inspector Divisional Office PCB Samba.
Member Secretary has appealed that the Board shall continue its relentless crusade against illegal polythene and banned disposable items till the menace is eradicated from the UT of J&K. The PCB team also carried out awareness campaign at Aap Shambu Mandir on the occasion of Maha Shivratri by displaying banners carrying messages requesting people not to use banned polythene and banned disposable items.
