JAMMU, Feb 2: Senior vice president and former minister, Abdul Gani Vakil, today said that Jammu Kashmir Peoples Conference will always fight to ensure equitable development of all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir as it strengthens the bonds of unity and integrity of the J&K which is the need of the hour.
Addressing party workers convention in Jammu today Vakil described the political situation in general in J&K as quiet fluid where good governance, transparency and accountability are missing from the scene and in particular the administration at the district level is behaving like a mute spectator.
Urging the Government of India to initiate confidence-building measures to end the widening wedge between the people here and the administration. Vakil further highlighted that in order to regain people’s trust and win back their hearts, the Central Government must restore statehood for Jammu and Kashmir and release political prisoners, regularise casual workers and daily wagers so that same could pre-empt the larger democratic process to flourish in an otherwise crisis ridden place. Govt must end the prevalent bureaucratic raj and allow the popular government to be elected without delay, Vakil added.
Addressing the gathering Ex-MLA Bashir Ahmad Dar expressed his dismay over neglect of fruit and tourism industry in the recent Budget and stressed upon GoI to announce a comprehensive economic package for revival of the same. Fruit growers and people associated with tourism industry are facing acute hardships as the state administration had sidelined their demands. ”
During convention more than 50 workers from different political parties joined Peoples Conference and expressed full faith in the leadership of Sajad Gani Lone.
Besides others who addressed the gathering include District president Mohan Lal Radha, general secretaries Iqbal Khan and Raj Paul Singh, Rattan Lal– secretary, Sangeeta Devi, Renu Devi and Kadar Khan.
