UDHAMPUR, Feb 19: Prominent political and social figure, Pawan Khajuria highlighted the problems being faced by the people in getting the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme.
Addressing a press conference here today he stated that conditions set by the concerned department for getting benefits under PMAY scheme are very difficult for a common person to fulfill.
“The primary document required is BPL (Below Poverty Line) Ration Card. Around 25-30 years back, a single Ration Card was sufficient for a family of 6-7 members but now with families growing to 25-30 members, separate Ration Cards have become necessary but whenever people try to apply for a new BPL Ration Card, they find the department’s website non-functional,” Khajuria further said.
He pointed out that another crucial document linked to BPL Ration Card is Income Certificate, which is nearly impossible to obtain without a valid Ration Card. “Additionally, applicants are facing significant difficulties in acquiring Girdawari (land ownership) records,” he maintained adding: “During visits to different villages, many needy individuals consistently raise these concerns. People unanimously expressed that, out of frustration, many are forced to grease the palms of officials while others who cannot afford to do so, are left helpless.” Khajuria urged the Government and District Administration to organize camps in different villages to inform and assist the needy and homeless individuals in this regard.
