UDHAMPUR, Feb 16: District Employment and Counseling Centre, Udhampur in collaboration with district administration Udhampur organized one day mega job fair at Town Hall here today.
Member Legislative Assembly, Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief guest, who formally inaugurated the mela.
While addressing the youth, Gupta said that it is not possible for any Government to provide jobs to every unemployed youth but awareness must be created among the youth regarding self employment schemes so that they can reap maximum benefits. He stressed on generating self-employment opportunities.
Gupta asked the district officers of various departments to organize awareness programmes for job seekers, so that they can avail the benefit of self-employment schemes. He congratulated the participants of the job fair and extended his best wishes to them for bright future. He said that the Government plays an important role as a facilitator to provide jobs to the youth. He said that to create ample opportunities for the youth, it is necessary that all available resources should be explored to redress the problem of unemployment.
He informed that Udhampur is the largest district in the State for production of cocoon. He also interacted with the job providers/companies as well as students of various educational institutions.
Different Government departments like Agriculture, Health, Handicraft, Handloom, National Livelihood Mission (NULM), Fisheries, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Sericulture etc. had set up their stalls for the general public regarding awareness of various self-employment schemes launched by the Government of India. In the job fair, MLA Udhampur also inspected various departmental stalls on the occasion.
Companies like Devika Hyundai, J&K Vehicleades Pvt Ltd., Bajaj Allianz Insurance Co Ltd. LIC, Brahm Rishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth, IL&FS, Quess Corp Ltd. TNS participated to offer job to unemployed youth.
While speaking on the occasion, ADC Udhampur Krishan Lal Sharma said that the main objective of this job fair is to generate employment opportunity for the un-employed youth by providing them multiple job options.
Among others, Chief Planning Officer, Udhampur Ashok Khajuria, Chief Agriculture Officer, S.K Gandotra, CAHO, Dr.Durga Dass Dogra, LDM, V.S Negi DSHO, Sanjeev Kumar, District Officer KVIB, Tilak Raj, PO DIC, Neelam Bhardwaj, and other district officers of various departments besides representatives of companies and students were present on the occasion.
