JAMMU, Apr 23:Ongoing indefinite strike by Patwaris and Girdawars across Jammu & Kashmir entered into 16th day today.
The strike is being observed under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association in support of the demands, including removal of pay anomalies with retrospective effect, stoppage of direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildar, relaxation in PSGA, enhancement of PSC examination chances from four to eight, establishment of departmental enquiry cell, transparency in transfer policy etc.
Today, the protesting Patwaris and Girdawars of Jammu district assembled at District Head quarter Jammu and held demonstration in support of their demands. They also took out a protest rally from Deputy Commissioner’s office to Shahidi Chowk under the leadership of district president Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai.
The rally was addressed provincial president Ram Raj Sharma and others who cautioned the cadre to remain vigilant as the Government may try to sabotage the movement. They held the Government responsible for the sufferings of common people due to ongoing strike, which would continue till the logical conclusion.
The Association leaders announced to organize a massive demonstration in front of the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu on April 25, 2013.
