SAMBA, Jan 20: Dema-nding stern action against the culprits, who were involved in attempt to murder their colleague, a strong protest was held by Girdawars and Patwaris of Samba and Kathua districts, here today at DC office Samba.
The protest was led by Mustaq Ahmad Ganaie, senior vice-president of All J&K Patwar Association, who warned to continue the stir till action against the culprits is taken for attack on their colleagues at Tehsil office Ramgarh on January 18.
A number of Patwaris and Girdawars were injured in that incident. Mohd Salim Girdawar, who was critically injured in the attack, was shifted to Amritsar, where he underwent two surgeries.
The Association alleged that the Police personnel present on the spot on that day, remained mute spectators-and did not make any attempt to save: the life of Revenue staff.
The protesting members of the Association warned that if the culprits are not arrested immediately, they would call for province level agitation.
The Association alleged that some political persons were behind this attack. “If these culprits are not arrested, the Association will be left with no option other than to take the struggle onwards,” they added.
Those who addressed the protest dharna, included Mushtaq Ahmad Ganaie, Neelam Singh, Mohd Din, Raj Kumar, Latif, Amn Kumar and others.
