On account of this Thyroid testing machine is of immense importance but ignoring all this, the authorities of GMCH have gone in deep slumber and when they will wake up only God knows.
In the absence of Thyroid testing facility, every day dozens of patients from GMCH are being referred to Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu for testing of Thyroid due to which the work load on concerned technician at Super Specialty hospital has increased manifold.
Moreover, the absence of testing facility in GMCH has increased the difficulties of the patients particularly old, infirm and poor who do not have any convenience to reach from GMCH to Super Specialty Hospital, as there is no public transport facility available from GMCH to SMGS Hospital.
When contacted, Medical Superintendent, GMCH, Dr Ravinder Rattan Pal, admitted that the Thyroid machine of the hospital is lying defunct for last many months. When asked till when the machine will be repaired, he said the machine is very old and there is no scope of its repair.
However, Dr Rattan Pal said that the issue is in their top priority. “In fact we have already placed the order for a new one and hopefully the new machine will be reached within a week or two”, he added.
