Srinagar, July 5: For the last more than 4 years, the residents of a colony at Gangbung Tengpora area of Srinagar are struggling with the pathetic condition of an interior road due to which they are facing several issues on daily basis.
Locals said that the condition of the road failing in Ward No 32 (B) deteriorated after the construction of the drain by the SMC, while the road was under the R&B Division Budgam till October 2020.
In November 2020, locals said, the Government issued an order and assigned inner-city roads to the SMC and in March this year the process of handover and take over was done in between R&B and SMC.
Bashir Ahmad Bhat, one of the locals said that the concerned departments have been callous in repairing the road which is lying in shambles for the last several years now.
Another resident, Farooq Ahmad Mattoo said that the concerned Junior Engineer visited the area two months ago, but to no avail so far.
The locals said that while the concerned departments are indifferent, they are facing immense hardships due to the pathetic condition of the road.
They demanded that the concerned officials must take note of the grievance and issue necessary directions in this regard.
Executive Engineer, City Roads Division, Srinagar Nisar Ahmad Pandith said that the department will be tendering the work in few days and the work will be taken up soon.
