WASHINGTON: The terrorist attacks on an IAF base in Pathankot and Indian consulate in Afghanistan were carried out to undermine any potential peace initiative between India and Pakistan, a top American Senator said today.
“These acts are likely designed, in part, to undermine any potential peace initiative that could be sparked by Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi’s recent visit to Pakistan to meet Prime Minister Sharif,” Senator Mark Warner, Co-Chair of the Senate India Caucus, said in a statement.
“I hope the terrorists will be brought to justice,” Warner said as he condemned the horrific terrorist attacks against India at the Pathankot military base and Indian consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan.
Congressman Joe Crowley in a tweet said his thoughts are with Indian people following recent Pathankot attack.
“We will continue to stand with our partner India in fight against terrorism,” he said. (agencies)
