NEW DELHI: A day after Pakistan reportedly handed over the initial report of its probe into the Pathankot terror strike, Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said there was no reason to disbelieve its assurance on the action promised on the attack.

“There is no reason as of now to disbelieve in the assurance given by Pakistan that it would take strict action on the Pathankot terror attack, Mr Singh said on the sidelines of a function in the neighbouring Greater NOIDA.

Asked about the fate of the  Foreign Secretary-level talks, Mr Singh said, “Let’s wait.

Mr Rajnath Singh’s remarks came as word was awaited from New Delhi as to whether the Foreign Secretary-level talks would be held per schedule, though Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Pakistan Prime Minister,  had told the National Assembly that the peace dialogue was intact.

Newly-appointed Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Gautam Bambawale, who was today crossing over to the Wagah border to assume charge, said he was taking a message of peace to the neighbouring country.

“Going to Pak with the message of friendship, want to improve relations, Mr Bambawale said here before his departure.  South Block had last week clearly told Pakistan that the talks would depend on the prompt and decisive action taken by Pakistan on evidence given to it by India on the Pathankot terror attack in which seven Indian security personnel lost their lives.(Agencies)
