UDHAMPUR, Sept 16: BJP spokesperson, Ranbir Singh Pathania, toured various villages of Ramnagar, Laa, Round, Rajua, Chakka, Garh Samna Banj, Urkhal, Pattian, Chandi and other areas of Ramnagar and took stock of the damaged of the public property due to unprecedented and continuing landslides.
Pathania observed that landslides have damaged/demolished as many as two scores of houses and posed a serious risk to as many as hundred others while the local population is living in hilly, tipsy-turvy area of Ramnagar, Majalta and Basantgarh tehsils in a constant state of fear and uncertainty.
The BJP leader said irrespective of the fact that the affected family has been left with any land or not, at least one kanal of land should be earmark/allotted to all such affected families who have lost their families in landslides. The affected spots as well as the proposed spots for rehabilitation should be checked before hand by the GSI to avoid further awkward situations in the future.
More so, it has been practiced that the local administration has been preparing compensation cases for those houses only which have been totally damaged but in cases where houses have either partially damaged or become unfit for living, relief cases under SDRF should be immediately prepared and processed and relief disbursed to the affected families without any further delay.
“As the specified limit under SDRF is very low it is submitted that a house under PMAY should be sanctioned out of priority and out of the rule-hindrances to all the affected families to supplement the compensation amount. More so some necessary house hold items especially kitchen items and financial help under Red Cross or any suitable head should also be made available to all the affected families,” he added.
Pathania also sought immediate restoration of public utilities like electricity, restoration of drinking water pipes, health facilities at the earliest. He called for adopting a multidimensional, multifaceted approach to face situations so that such ugly incidents shall be controlled and tackled well in future.
