Pathania reviews situation in flood, landslide hit areas

UDHAMPUR, July 24: MLA Ramnagar, Ranbir Singh Pathania today assessed and reviewed prevailing situation due to torrential rains which have resulted in loss of precious human lives due to flash-floods and landslides and also caused enormous damage to Government/private infrastructure.
He called for formulation of a comprehensive safety action plan, as every year J&K looses precious lives and properties due to floods. “Despite affirmative action from the Government, a massive civilian initiative is needed to tackle the ugly fixes every year”, he added.
While conducting a high level meeting attended by Niraj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Executive Engineers of PDD, PHE, Irrigation & FC, PMGSY, District Heads of Social Welfare, Health, Education, Agriculture, Health, Animal/Sheep Husbandry Departments, Pathania expressed grief over the loss of human lives at Pachound and Kaghote in Ramnagar.
It was decided that next of kin of the victims will be recommended for Rs 1 lakh each out of CM’s Relief Fund. Pathania further directed the district administration to process the case of Kaghote landslide victims under SDRF norms so that additional support is provided to bereaved families.
Taking serious note of the recent landslide at Kaghote on Roun-Ramnagar road, Pathania directed Executive Engineer PWD to take appropriate measures and ensure that no such untoward incident happens again. He asked for expert geological/technical advice to cure off the sliding rock which had caused the accident.
The Executive Engineer of PMGSY was directed to ensure that all clogged roads including that of Marta-Dheeran, Sunetar-Goondian Bari- Laddana, Pachound road, Ramnagar to Sulan road and other habitations should be cleared and made through for traffic. During the course of meeting blue print was evolved to ensure the permanent restoration of essential supply lines at an earliest.
Earlier, Pathania visited the bereaved families of landslide victims at Kough and handed over a cheque of Rs 35000 each to next of kin of those who lost their lives due to landslide.
