UDHAMPUR, Dec 29: In line with the Prime Minister’s vision of bridging up the gaps in gender equality and giving a fillip to women education, Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Ramnagar today laid the foundation stone of another 100 bedded Girls Hostel here in the campus of Government Girls High School.
Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, Bishan Singh was also present along with officers and officials of various other line departments. The two-storied hostel building will be completed at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 2.54 crore and will give a major boost to female education, as a major section of girls in past have to leave their education midway due to non-availability of residential facilities.
Pathania while laying down the foundation stone of the hostel exhorted upon the executing and contractor agencies to ensure the time bound completion of this project without compromising the qualitative aspect. Besides this, work on other such girl hostels, one each in Chowki, Basantgarh and Majalta (GS Banj) is likely to be taken up shortly.
The hostel will be well equipped with recreational, medical and sports facilities and will be developed on modern lines. Pertinently foundation stone of one such hostel was laid off at Village Chowki by Pathania a couple of months ago.
Earlier, Pathania visited the Teachers Training Camp organised by Education Department and had a interaction with the trainee teachers wherein he exhorted upon them to contribute maximum in the nation building as the teaching community is the torch bearer of the society.
The MLA also chaired a public meeting in the Dak Bungalow Ramnagar and took stock of the public grievances. Later in the day, Pathania chaired a meeting of all the officers and officials of Rural Development in the premises of Block Headquarter Ramnagar to review various developmental works.
