JAMMU, Dec 1: BJP spokesperson, Ranbir Singh Pathania vouched for all popular public demand for declaring Chhallan to Udhampur and Battal to Samba roads as national highways and asked the Government to immediately take them under Bharatmala Scheme.
It was stated by him during a monthly meeting of the Party cadres at Battal in Majalta tehsil and said that the Dhar road from Udhampur to Mahanpur is the oldest metalled road which is also called as defence road and it is considered to be a lifeline for Udhampur, Reasi, Samba, Jammu and Kathua districts.
However, he appreciated the Government that from Chhallan to Mahanpur stretch of the Dhar road has been already declared as national highway but the remaining part of this road from Udhampur to Chhallan is also required to be declared as national highway so that it serves as a viable interconnection between Jammu-Srinagar highway thereby facilitating greater and smooth facilitation of inter-state traffic.
He further requested that more traffic on these highways is also required to be routed from Mansar Morh to Battal. The said highway has been a declared State highway since 4 to 5 decades back. This road was in shambles, however he thanked Union Ministry has taken the project under CRF which has improved the condition of the road but in order to make it as an all weather road and facilitate greater movement of interstate traffic and smoother movement of pilgrims to Mansar, Surinsar lakes as well as picturesque shrines of Sri Pingla Mata, Chountra Mata and ancient Babour temples in Manwal.
He was accompanied by Kuldeep Singh, general secretary BJP District Udhampur, Shiv Ram Mandal general secretary, Makhan Lal Mandal vice president, Ashok Kumar Mandal SC president, Hari Ram Mandal OBC president and many others.
