JAMMU, Mar 17: The Regional Passport Office (RPO), Jammu is organizing the 1st Passport Mela of the year on March 19.
The Mela aims at providing an extra window to the passport applicants, who in the wake of recent increase of the applications, have to wait for their appointment. The office has already issued 270 appointments, which can be availed online through its website passportindia.gov.in.
Additionally, special ‘Walk-in’ appointments will be granted to senior citizens and differently-abled citizens. The processing of applications will start from 9:15 am till 4:15 pm. The event will be inaugurated at 10.00 am at the Regional Passport Office, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
This is the first event in the series of similar 7-8 Melas that have been scheduled subsequently to cater to the needs of passport applicants from entire Jammu region.
Furthermore, in view of the lack of awareness and mis-information that somehow exists among various applicants especially from the far-flung areas of Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban etc, a special passport awareness campaign will be launched in April wherein several passport awareness camps will be organized at District Headquarters of Jammu region.
