Passenger facilities discussed at Katra

KATRA, Dec 15: To review the facilities at new bus stand and other related issues of Railway Station Katra which is likely to be commissioned in the month of March, 2013, a meeting of concerned officer was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Reasi Nirmal Sharma here today.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB,  Rash Paul Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Katra Development Authority,  Sudarshan Kumar, Executive Engineer, PWD,  Joginder Pal, SDPO, Katra,  Rajinder Katoch, ARTO, Reasi,  Shami Kumar, Assistant Director Tourism, Veenakshi Koul and other senior officers of different departments were present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the DDC issued instruction to the concerned officers for accelerating developmental activities pertaining to their respective departments for the facilities of the passengers keeping in view the increasing influx of pilgrims with the commissioning of rail link to Katra. She directed EO Municipality to convene meeting with the representative of Taxi Operators and Auto Unions for the redressal of their genuine problems.
Mrs Sharma also asked the concerned officers to keep a strict vigil and ensure that constructions are taken up in accordance with master plan.
Other main issues which were discussed in the meeting include disposal of garbage and formulation of comprehensive traffic plan for Katra town.
Later, separate deputations of taxi operators and auto unions called on the DDC and put forth their demands which mainly include renovation of toilet block at existing taxi stand, allotment of parking lots at new bus stand, counter number 2 and Railway Station, Katra.
Responding to their demands, the DDC directed the EO Municipality for the renovation of toilet blocks with allied facilities and constituted a separate committee to chalk out strategy for the allotment of the parking lots at different places in the town.
