Parveen panel sweeps CCBL polls

JAMMU, Aug 24: The panel of candidates led by Parveen Sharma,   swept the elections for Board of Directors of Citizens’ Cooperative Bank Ltd Jammu, which went to polls yesterday.
Eight candidates of Parveen Sharma panel and Dinesh Gupta, outgoing Chairman of CCBL Board of Director,  were declared elected by the Returning Officer Zafar Iqbal Bandey after day-long counting of votes.
Other seven candidates,  who were declared elected, included Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Sachin Gupta, Sumant Singh Jamwal, Suresh Gupta, S Surinder Singh and  Varinder Singh Jamwal.
Among the elected candidates, Bharat Bhushan Gupta (Tinu) secured highest number of     votes (3196). He was followed by Parveen Sharma (3188), Sumant Singh Jamwal (2956), Kuldeep Raj Gupta (2783), Sachin Gupta (2729), Suresh Kumar (2708), S Surinder Singh (2531), Varinder Singh Jamwal (2493) and Dinesh Gupta (2345).
Total 6731 votes were polled and 333 of them were declared invalid during the counting.

There were total 45 candidates in fray for the elections of CCBL Directors, which were held after five years.
The prominent losers included   Balbir Singh Manhas (1255), S Charanjit Singh Raina (2129), Deepak Gupta (2170), Parshotam Singh (1876) and  Ravi Kant from  Parveen Sharma panel (2169).
After day-long counting of votes, the results were declared by the Returning Officer amidst cheers by the winning candidates and their supporters.
The elections for the Board of Directors were held yesterday and a record turn out was registered in the history of the bank.
